Memorial Day Weekend 2011
Camping and the Adirondacks go hand in hand with Memorial Day weekend for the majority of upstate New Yorkers each year.
The 2.5 hour ride up to Raquette Lake is just as beautiful as the view of the water.
Our site was just off the main road with a perfect view of the lake.It was perfect for the four of us; our two tents on each side with almost everything but the kitchen sink in the middle..
Our first nightfall fell quick and was filled with the simple pleasures of grilling hot dogs and sipping (chugging?) beers around the fire.
We all crashed out relatively early (for us) and were up with the sun to enjoy the gorgeous view of the lake.We made French Press coffee, bacon, and eggs, along with a delicious fruit plate.
Then we were ready for morning cocktails before heading out to the village!Happy camper right here ↓
Raquette Lake village was super small but adorable, as expected.
We're assuming this is their fire station.. We drove around for a bit, taking in the scenery before finding a spot to rent some kayaks We paddled a couple miles back to our site for some quick drinks and few snap shots After all that paddling, we were ready for some real drink time.. The scenery continued to get better as the day went on. There's always so much to appreciate while spending the weekend in nature
